Andy’s practice focuses primarily on wrongful death, medical malpractice, dram shop liability, products liability, trucking, motorcycle, and motor vehicle accidents, and other forms of serious personal injury and complex civil litigation matters. Andy grew up in Pawleys Island, South Carolina, after moving there at a young age, where he attended and graduated from Waccamaw High School. He earned his undergraduate degree, summa cum laude, from the College of Charleston, ranking first in his graduating class. Andy went on to receive his J.D. from Charleston School of Law, cum laude, where he was the Editor-in-Chief of the Federal Courts Law Review, and a member of the Charleston School of Law Moot Court Board and Honor Council. He also completed over 350 hours of pro bono legal services for the Office of the Attorney General for the District of Columbia.
Prior to joining Elliott & Phelan, Andy began his legal career as a staff attorney at the Supreme Court of South Carolina. He then worked in Columbia, South Carolina as a trial attorney at an established South Carolina litigation firm advocating for the rights of insurance companies, large corporations, small businesses, and individuals in a variety of complex civil liability matters throughout South Carolina state and federal courts, before returning home to Georgetown County. At Elliott & Phelan, Andy is able to draw on this unique background and apply his experience and skills while representing individuals and their families in an effort to achieve favorable results on their behalf.
Andy was named a South Carolina SuperLawyers Rising Star in 2015 and 2016, and was honored to receive an AV “Preeminent” Peer Review Rating by Martindale Hubbell for the Highest Level of Professional Excellence. Away from work, Andy enjoys spending time with his wife and son, fishing, and attending as many sporting events as possible.
